Is it time for photovoltaic ceramic tiles?

The Ceramic Innovation Chamber Ciutat de Vila-real at the Universitat Jaume I (UJI), in collaboration with the Institute of Renewable Energy of Catalunya (IREC) together with a few ceramic companies such as Invest Plasma, FAE, Torrecid and Camacho Recycling have launched a new research program called Ecoart, with the aim of creating photovoltaic cells capable of generating energy from ceramic material.

The project will have a budget of 1.6 million euros, of which 581,000 euros came from a grant from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (the rest corresponds to a very low interest loan that the companies participating in the program must return).
